GI Joe comic about simulacra/cloning

In the GI Joe comic book issue #49 from 1986, that I’ve had since I was a kid, we are shown a synthetic humanoid being created andimbued with the DNA of ancient warlords.

His creator, Dr. Mindbender of the evil Cobra organization, even refers to the humanoid as a faceless “Simulacrum”, as I have enlarged.

The exhumed bodies of Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, Attila the Hun, Philip II of Macedon and his son Alexander the Great, Ivan the Terrible, Vlad the Impaler, Hannibal, Genghis Khan, Grigori Rasputin, Montezuma, Geronimo, and Egyptian general Xanuth Amon-Toth are used to turn this Simulacrum into the ideal warrior.

The ancient warriors are put into their own separate saline-protein tanks where their genetic material is extracted and used to generate nerve tissue, with which the computers can use to extrapolate a working model of a brain. The DNA information is then downloaded into the Simulacrum.

Historical data is downloaded into the Simulacrum’s mind, and Dr. Mindbender downloads his knowledge and allegiances.

The creature now has a face and a mind. He is named Serpentor and dons a hood which resembles a snakes head. His purpose is to rally the Cobra organization and lead them to victory and world domination.
